Blooming on the side of a trail
free from the path of many
let my footsteps be untrodden
as I bend toward the sun
or bow to a late summer raindrop
that rests on my pedal
nurtured by the earth I’m seeded from
a life in need of no other blessing
to grow in a way so no one before or after
need know I was here
a wildflower
Free to grow then leave
